Potocco Spa, artisan background and international attitude for a Made in Italy design story

Potocco’s business history starts in 1919 when Domenico Potocco, great-grandfather of the current sole director Antonino Potocco, gives life to a small artisan workshop for the production of chairs in Manzano (UD), the iconic city of the well-known Italian Chair District.

During these 95 years of activity, the willingness to fulfill the needs of the International markets as well as the need to manage an increasing volume in terms of orders has brought the company to evolve and, even though maintaining a strong artisan background, to specialize in the industrial production of chairs, tables and other high quality furniture elements, suitable for both the outdoor and the indoor contexts and aimed not only at the home sector, but also at the contract one.

In April 2015 the company conveys the merger of the brand Potocco, characterized by a classical and formal style, and Accademia, definitely more minimalist: aiming indeed at realizing furniture collections through which effectively becoming a real style pioneer, it brings life to “Potocco Italy”, a unique trademark characterized by products that allow recreating fresh and contemporary settings.

The products branded Potocco Italy stand out thanks to a design that is always linked to their functional aspect, often anticipating styles and trends. This is possible also thanks to a perfect combination of different materials such as wood (in particular the essences oak, ash, beech, walnut, and palissander), metals, resins, fabrics and the ropes (nautical, PVC or row), a unique and patented detail that characterize several outdoor collections.

The company concentrates most of its production cycles within its 40 thousand square meters facility in Manzano, where thanks to the precious support of almost 90 employees, it realizes more or less 150 different products daily.

The forty product lines that the production department is able to supply, for a total of 3200 different models, are the result of important collaborations with well-known designers such as Alexander Lorenz, Gianluigi Landoni, Bernhardt & Vella, Mauro Lipparini, Marco Piva, Hannes Wettstein, Davide Gallo, Alessandro Busana and Lemongras.

As a Made in Italy design leader, Potocco has been able to adapt rapidly to the new market needs and consequently it has also been able to reach specific market niches within the contract sector. For many years indeed the company has been providing with its products notables brands of the naval, luxury and retail sectors, mostly thanks to its flexible production structure that enables it to offer an outstanding degree of customization.

The passion and commitment that Potocco has always been dedicating to its activities have been recognized with several awards such as the “Triangolo d’oro” (best chair producer within the Italian chair district) and, on the occasion of the economic progress award ceremony announced by chamber of commerce of Udine, for the outstanding quality of its products as well as for its en- entrepreneurial dynamism. Moreover, in 2011 Potocco has been awarded for its 50th participation at the International furniture fair in Milan, honoring its steady and constant presence since the first edition.
